Celebrating ten years with a change

Goods has been in the business for 10 years this August, and we thought this milestone in our history should be marked and celebrated with a change. Ours is a mission to constantly optimise our store and strive to better the experience of the act of physical shopping. So, we decided to contact OEO Studio (an award winning interior design studio) to collaborate on a complete re-build/refurbishment of the store.

Thomas Lykke; co-owner, co-founder of OEO and former Wallpaper editor has since the very beginning of Goods been a regular customer at the store. So choosing OEO as partners for the refurbishment of Goods was quite natural and made sense in an organic approach to changing Goods as well as in a design sense, where I've always admired Thomas' eye and talent. Thomas has followed us since the early years and has a very clear idea of who we are and what we stand for and has managed to integrate that into the core of our new space.

In the interior design together with OEO we have chosen to work with warm and inviting quality materials that age with grace, such as oak, brass and woven fabrics, which are balanced with a colour palette inspired by painter Alice Neel. All shelving, tables and cabinets are bespoke and designed for the store by OEO and made by Danish craftspeople. All wowen fabrics are from the Danish textile masters at Kvadrat.

We’re often asked why we’re not opening a second or third store, but for us it’s much more important to create a retail experience which is a extraordinary, and out of the ordinary, so much so, that people will be willing to travel for it. That's why we decided to spend what could easily have opened another store for us on the re-build/refurbishment of Goods.
